Memories

Thought I’d squeeze in a 2nd post this month. With two weekends away & the hot weather making me feel shattered, my blog has taken a back burner!

One of my weekends away was to London. I visited some art galleries, which are always inspiring and had the added advantage of being air-conditioned! Many years ago I used to work in some of the London galleries so have fond memories. I worked for a company called Acoustiguide, that do recorded tours. The royal academy was one of the galleries and its courtyard has changed considerably since I was there. Now it has an outside cafe & water feature!

I looked around the Summer exhibition, on until 18th August. It’s great to see the variety of work in this open exhibition, catering for all tastes. I’d forgotten how large it is, so you need to allow plenty of time. Luckily it wasn’t too busy when I went but more seating would be good!

A tip to miss the crowds is to avoid visiting at the start or near the end of an exhibition run, although very popular exhibitions like Monet will always be busy!

Now it’s cooler I have been busy painting. Here is my latest pet portrait, in memory of a customers much-loved dog. This is the first stage looking through the wine glass:

I then added long grass, as the customer wanted to remember him exactly as the photo. It took me a while to get the right colour but I got there in the end!
