Letter A Challenge

Can’t believe it’s Friday already. I didn’t get many suggestions for the letter A but I guess lots of people are on holiday! However I’ve had 2 international sales recently, another one last night, so I’m very happy. A big thank you to all my customers and waving to the USA and Norway 🙂

For painting an animal with the letter A I came up with Afghan hound, Alsatian, Ant, Avocet, Angel fish and Alligator. As the point of this challenge is to focus me and paint new animals I may not necessarily choose, I decided on the alligator and added an Angel fish to an ACEO I had already started!

I made the alligator glass painting into a candle holder, recycling an old cloudy glass. If you’re interested in trying this yourself I did a blog post last year about upcycling old glasses into candle holders

The second part of my challenge is to feature a business involved with animals whose name begins with that weeks letter.

For my first business I have chosen ‘Audreys Cat’, an Online Vintage Shop on Folksy and Etsy as well as her own website – ‘perfect for collectors of Vintage home wares or Retro fashion. RETRO ReBorn vintage textiles made into funky stuff just for you’

I chose this business not only because it begins with A and has a cat in the title but I love the many animals Dawn creates using vintage fabric. Her shop has many funky cats, mice, birds etc. You can even have a peak at her home in September’s issue of House Beautiful magazine! here is a taste:

I hope you’ve enjoyed my week one challenge, 25 to go!

Next week is the letter B. All animal suggestions for me to paint are welcome and if you know a business linked with animals whose name begins with B please do leave a comment, so I can choose one to include in next Fridays post.

  1. A fantastic idea to challenge your creativity! And lovely work too. What about a bandicoot for B, you don’t see many of those around!
