About
Annabel Potter
Annabel is a British artist and illustrator based in Exeter, Devon. She loves bringing nature into the home painting wildlife and animals. Glass painting is her favourite medium combined with digital artwork and mixed media paintings. She regularly photographs her glass paintings, as well as wildlife, to create new digital and abstract art. These are often quirky, with the aim to make you smile! The business was inspired by her two elderly cats and wanting a functional keepsake, the logo is one of these initial paintings on a glass.
Passionate about the natural world with a degree in Environmental science and this is portrayed in Annabel’s work. To help conserve resources she uses recycled packaging and has solar panels to generate her own electricity. Going forward Annabel is upcycling glassware by painting charity shop finds. She has sold artwork at Exeter Quay, a Dartmoor collection at Widecombe-in-the-Moor National Trust Gallery, currently at Makermart in Exeter, Devon and worldwide via online sales.
Method- For glass paintings she draws sketches on paper first before directly painting on the glass using non-toxic glass paint. The paintings are done in stages over a few days, as the paint has to dry before adding more detail. Once completed Annabel signs the glassware and the paintings are heat set so they can be hand washed.
All hand painted items are original works of art, so no two will be identical and commissions are welcome. For pet portraits she works from a photograph.
